• Tuition
Monthly tuition for private lessons is due the week before the first lesson of the following month (example: September tuition is due at the last lesson in August). Payment must be presented at the beginning of lesson on the week it's due, or can be mailed, postmarked no later than the 25th -- please contact your instructor for the mailing address.
  • Late Payments
TUITION MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE 1ST OF THE MONTH. A late fee of $25 will be assessed for payments received after this date.
  • Returned Checks
An additional fee of $35 will be charged for returned checks to cover bank fees. Settlement of tuition and fees will be expected immediately upon notification to avoid suspension of lessons.
  • Calendar
A calendar of studio events, holidays, and non-lesson weeks will be provided. Please refer to the calendar for important events and weeks when there will be no lessons held.
  • Tardiness
Instructors do their utmost to maintain a timely schedule. Tardiness must be kept to a minimum. As lessons are only 30 minutes in duration, a student arriving more than 15 minutes late will be considered a no show.
  • Student Absences
MAKE-UP LESSONS ARE NOT GIVEN FOR STUDENT ABSENCES.
Students are responsible for attending lessons at their assigned time. Student absences will not be made up. Only with adequate notice of a conflict, may it be possible to reschedule a lesson, prior to the anticipated absence. Teachers are not responsible for providing an additional, alternate lesson time for every absence and have the right to refuse to reschedule a lesson. Rescheduling is a courtesy occasionally afforded to a student, and should not be abused.
  • Rescheduling Policy
Students who give a minimum TWO-WEEK NOTICE of an anticipated absence may ask to reschedule a lesson. When possible to do so within your instructor’s normal teaching hours and depending upon another student’s cancelation, we will reschedule a lesson within ONE week’s time of the lesson to be missed. This is a courtesy, done in the interest of maintaining the regular, weekly schedule when possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. The student will expect to be “on-call” as cancelations can come on very short notice. If the teacher is able to offer an alternate lesson time, the student can accept or decline the time, but note that an alternate time will be offered only once. If no time comes available within the one-week period of the lesson to be missed, that lesson will not be rescheduled. Cancelations made less than two weeks ahead of time will not be rescheduled.
  • Vacations and Extended Absences
IF A STUDENT WILL BE ABSENT FOR MULTIPLE WEEKS, TUITION IS NOT ADJUSTED OR PRO-RATED FOR THE ABSENCES.

Payment must be made before leaving if a student plans to be absent during the week tuition is due to keep his/her place in the teaching schedule. Students risk losing their lesson slot if they fail to pay before leaving for multiple weeks.

    Note about rescheduling:
When students leave for more than a few days, it is often very difficult and sometimes fruitless to reschedule lessons. Usually, there are considerable time restrictions on a student’s availability for rescheduling, as he/she will be out of town on some or all of the days eligible for rescheduling. Also, practice time for the student may be scarce due to travel preparations, making for unproductive lesson time. In these situations, rescheduling may not be ideal, and further, may not be possible if the teacher is unable to accommodate your travel schedule. For these reasons, the teacher may choose not to reschedule.
  • Family Member Absences
WITHOUT PROPER NOTICE, STUDENTS FROM THE SAME FAMILY ARE NOT ALLOWED LESSON SWAPS OR TIME EXTENSIONS FOR ONE CHILD WHEN THE OTHER IS ABSENT.
When multiple students from the same family take lessons, an absence by one does not automatically entitle the other to the absent child’s lesson time. We schedule back-to-back lesson times as a convenience for the family, but we still require they give proper notice of cancelations and otherwise abide by the rescheduling policy. Whether a family seeks to swap lesson times, receive extended time for the child in attendance, or reschedule for the absent child, the Rescheduling Policy and the two-week notice, as outlined above, still applies.
*Special note: when requesting a time extension for the child in attendance, total lesson time will be 45 minutes. Teachers plan for 30-minute lessons and hour lessons will not be given in these cases.
  • Repeated Absences Without Notification
A student who fails to attend lessons for two or more consecutive weeks without notifying the teacher, will risk losing his/ her scheduled time slot. If this occurs in conjunction with late or non-payment of tuition, lessons will be terminated after the second consecutive missed lesson. The teacher is not obligated to contact a student who repeatedly neglects to appear for lessons and fails to pay tuition, before terminating that student’s lessons. A student whose lessons are terminated will still be responsible to pay the prorated amount of a half-month’s tuition for his/her time on the schedule. He/ she will lose the time slot and will have to wait for another availability in the teacher’s schedule if they wish to continue lessons.
  • Permanent Time Change for Student Schedule Conflict
When a student learns of a conflict that requires a permanent time change, the teacher must be given as much notice as possible to attempt to find an alternate time. Though an alternate time may not be immediately available, while the student is still on the schedule, they must pay to hold their place. If a new time cannot be secured in an acceptable amount of time, the student may choose to go on the waiting list to be reassigned a lesson time as soon as possible rather than pay to hold a place in the schedule. Note that in this situation, the vacated time slot will be available for reassignment to another student, and will create a longer delay for returning to the schedule.
  • Snow Days
In the event of an ASD school closure due to inclement weather conditions, lessons may be canceled for part or all of that day to avoid dangerous travel for students or teachers. If lessons are canceled, the instructor will offer to reschedule lessons for those affected. Rescheduling these lessons will be conducted within a FOUR-week period from the day of cancelled lessons.
  • Teacher Cancellations
MAKE-UPS WILL BE GIVEN FOR LESSONS CANCELED BY THE TEACHER IF NO SUBSTITUTE IS AVAILABLE TO TEACH.
The Lesson Calendar provides the teaching schedule for weekly lessons and accounts for holidays and breaks. If a teacher will be absent on a day that lessons are scheduled, a substitute instructor will conduct lessons. When a substitute is not available, the primary instructor will make up the lessons that would be missed. Lessons will be made up as scheduling allows.
  • CLARIFICATION
A make-up lesson is offered only for a teacher’s cancellation and guaranteed to the student when a substitute is unavailable. The time for scheduling a make-up lesson won’t expire.
A rescheduled lesson is offered on a limited basis for a student’s cancellation, with adequate advance notice, and subject to schedule availability. It is not guaranteed and does expire within a one-week period.
